Stari Most
Old bridge, is what Stari Most translates to. Stari Most is a graphic novel about the old bridge in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina. This bridge is centuries old and very popular among the residents of Mostar. When the war broke out in former Yugoslavia in 1993, the bridge ended up in the middle of two fronts because the city was located between Croatia and Bosnia. This war was a battle between the different ethnic groups Yugoslavia consisted of. After the fall of communism in this country they all wanted their own independent countries. Who owned the area that was once so peacefully shared? The war eventually led to the destruction of this once iconic and beloved bridge. The bridge becomes the narrator and tells the story of what happened in the city from his own compassionate perspective.
