Huidhonger (skin hunger)

Huidhonger (skin hunger) is about our loss. About the longing for each other’s touch. It symbolizes and visualizes the act of giving a hug and gives you the opportunity to rethink the value of being close to someone.

In times like these, when COVID-19 is still accurate and all around us, we tend to create more and more distance between one another. But the distance is devastating, and the gap will only grow in size.

With this project, I hope people will realize that bonding is a great human habit, that can only be whole if it involves physical touch. Even now, within these surreal circumstances, we need to ask ourselves what the future holds for us.

So let’s be hopeful for a future in which we are able to hug and kiss each other without any restrictions.
Let’s try to create less distance in every possible way.
Let’s see and feel our loved ones.
We need each other.
