A Meditation on Light
A while ago, on a regular evening, I was lying on the grass, my gaze fixed upon the sky above. I noticed the beauty of the changing light cast by the setting sun and began to meditate on it. By paying attention to this slow change, I, myself, also slowed down. I became aware of the natural rhythm of the earth. I observed how time unfolded.
We live in a performance-driven society, and most people receive constant sensory stimuli. As somebody who is easily overwhelmed, I often get caught in this trap of overstimulation. I know I’m not the only one. With A Meditation on Light, I am a representative of slowness and awareness. I try to mirror the calm changes in the light by inviting my viewer to observe and slow down.
